 General

Why are you running for Sammamish City Council?

My wife and I have lived on the Sammamish Plateau since 1997 and have seen the inception and development of the City of Sammamish and the simultaneous and continuing development, growth and changes to our community during these 20 years. I experienced the angst with King County that ultimately lead to the founding of our City and the aspiration that local control would provide the opportunity to greatly improve the prioritization of local projects and the level of service from local government. Much of this vision has been accomplished through the dedication of many of our City leaders over the past 18 years. Now that there will be a significant transition in the City Council, I hope to lend my experience from the private sector to help guide the City’s path to continue in a long term, well planned trajectory of financially disciplined progress toward accomplishing those goals that were expressed in the founding of the City of Sammamish.

Paucity of local endorsements mark City Council races

The 11 active candidates running for Sammamish City Council have of local endorsements as the Aug. 1 primary closes in.

Some candidates have no endorsements listed on their web sites, which are also—for the most part—appallingly devoid of substantive discussion of their issues.

Mullor withdraws; Candidate statements for Sammamish Council Position 1

Miki Mullor withdrew his candidacy yesterday from Position 1 for the Sammamish City Council.

This means there are 12 candidates seeking four Sammamish City Council positions, each of the seats will have a primary in the Aug. 1 election.

With Mullor’s withdrawal, there will be no primary for Position 1. However, Sammamish Comment will proceed with basic information from the two remaining candidates for Position 1.

Three candidates filed for Positions 3 and 5; four filed for Position 7. Their statements will publish this week.

Sammamish Comment will provide coverage throughout the campaign to the August primary and the Nov. 7 general election.

13 candidates seek 4 Sammamish City Council positions

Thirteen candidates filed for four positions on the Sammamish City Council, the most since 1999 when 40 people filed for seven positions for the first Council.

 

This means there will be primary races in the August election for each seat up this year. The top two of each race will advance to the November general election.
