Two more candidates filed yesterday for Sammamish City Council candidacy: Ken Gamblin filed for seat 6 opposing Rituja Indapure. Kent Treen filed seat 4, opposing Ryika Hooshangi and Karen Howe. As it stands today, seat 4 will have a primary in August. Both Treen and Gamblin are first time candidates.
The deadline for filing for the election with the Washington State Public Disclosure Commission is Friday.
Karen Howe has filed for candidacy for City Council seat 4, opposing Ryika Hooshangi. Howe ran in the last election and lost to Deputy Mayor Karen Moran.
Council Member Tom Hornish announced today on Facebook that he will not seek re-election. Hornish will complete his first term at the end of this year:
In an election surprise, Mayor Christie Malchow announced today on her Facebook page she will run for office in the 2019 election, reversing a previous announcement from March that she will not seek re-relection.
Malchow’s Facebook post reads:
“After many calls, letters, emails and comments, after much consideration, and with the ๐๐ฎ๐ฅ๐ฅ support of my family, ๐ ๐ก๐๐ฏ๐ ๐๐๐๐ข๐๐๐ ๐ญ๐จ ๐ฌ๐๐๐ค ๐๐ฅ๐๐๐ญ๐ข๐จ๐ง to the Council after all. I ๐๐๐๐ this City, I ๐๐๐๐ this job servingย #Sammamish, and if the residents of #Sammamish like my work thus far, then I hope youโll be with me in this campaign.
There is still ๐ฆ๐ฎ๐๐ก to accomplish from our ๐๐๐๐๐๐ ๐ก๐๐ข๐๐ก๐ข๐๐ and congestion issues (and how we wisely address these), to ๐โ๐๐ ๐ 2 ๐๐ ๐กโ๐ ๐ท๐๐ฃ๐๐๐๐๐๐๐๐ก ๐ ๐๐๐ข๐๐๐ก๐๐๐๐ , to pending ๐๐๐ฃ๐๐๐๐๐๐๐๐ก๐๐ ๐๐๐๐ ๐๐๐๐๐๐ก๐๐๐๐ (like stormwater & the urban forestry plan), to a ๐ช๐๐๐ ๐ท๐๐๐ ๐๐๐ ๐๐๐ on the horizon, to ๐๐๐ค ๐๐๐๐๐ , to the ๐๐๐๐๐๐๐๐๐ ๐โ๐๐๐๐๐๐๐๐ heading our way that will have to be cautiously managed and ๐ ๐ ๐๐ข๐โ ๐๐๐๐. Through it all I will continue to listen to everyone & advocate for the people of #Sammamish.
