Mayor Malchow

In an election surprise, Mayor Christie Malchow announced today on her Facebook page she will run for office in the 2019 election, reversing a previous announcement from March that she will not seek re-relection.

Malchow’s Facebook post reads:

“After many calls, letters, emails and comments, after much consideration, and with the 𝐟𝐮𝐥𝐥 support of my family, 𝐈 𝐡𝐚𝐯𝐞 𝐝𝐞𝐜𝐢𝐝𝐞𝐝 𝐭𝐨 𝐬𝐞𝐞𝐤 𝐞𝐥𝐞𝐜𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 to the Council after all. I 𝒍𝒐𝒗𝒆 this City, I 𝒍𝒐𝒗𝒆 this job serving #Sammamish, and if the residents of #Sammamish like my work thus far, then I hope you’ll be with me in this campaign.

There is still 𝐦𝐮𝐜𝐡 to accomplish from our 𝑖𝑛𝑓𝑟𝑎𝑠𝑡𝑟𝑢𝑐𝑡𝑢𝑟𝑒 and congestion issues (and how we wisely address these), to 𝑃ℎ𝑎𝑠𝑒 2 𝑜𝑓 𝑡ℎ𝑒 𝐷𝑒𝑣𝑒𝑙𝑜𝑝𝑚𝑒𝑛𝑡 𝑅𝑒𝑔𝑢𝑙𝑎𝑡𝑖𝑜𝑛𝑠, to pending 𝑒𝑛𝑣𝑖𝑟𝑜𝑛𝑚𝑒𝑛𝑡𝑎𝑙 𝑐𝑜𝑛𝑠𝑖𝑑𝑒𝑟𝑎𝑡𝑖𝑜𝑛𝑠 (like stormwater & the urban forestry plan), to a 𝑪𝒐𝒎𝒑 𝑷𝒍𝒂𝒏 𝒖𝒑𝒅𝒂𝒕𝒆 on the horizon, to 𝑛𝑒𝑤 𝑝𝑎𝑟𝑘𝑠, to the 𝑓𝑖𝑛𝑎𝑛𝑐𝑖𝑎𝑙 𝑐ℎ𝑎𝑙𝑙𝑒𝑛𝑔𝑒𝑠 heading our way that will have to be cautiously managed and 𝑠𝑜 𝑚𝑢𝑐ℎ 𝑚𝑜𝑟𝑒. Through it all I will continue to listen to everyone & advocate for the people of #Sammamish.
