Sammamish Comment will begin making its recommendations for the City Council primary on Wednesday, July 19.
Today Sammamish Comment publishes the candidate questionnaires of Position 7 for City Council.
The candidates are Melanie Curtright, John Robinson and Pamela Stuart.
A fourth candidate, Roger Chapanis, dropped out of the race too late to remove his name from the ballot.
The candidate responses are printed verbatim. The Comment only checked their responses for spelling and grammar. Each response is in its own post, so scroll down on The Comment’s Home Page to see each response.
The responses were reviewed and processed by Scott Hamilton.

Why are you running for Sammamish City Council?
I’m running to ensure that Sammamish families of all kinds have a strong voice in our local government and feel safe and valued. Our community is becoming more diverse
every day and I believe we have a responsibility to ensure that our city council reflects that diversity. As a single mom working full time, I know how hard it is to make ends meet and care for a family. I bring needed perspective and life experience to the council.

Why are you running for Sammamish City Council?
I’m running for Sammamish City Council because I believe that Sammamish is a special place; however, the growth and development in our region have many worried that what
we love most about Sammamish – our great schools, incredible green spaces, and unique Northwest charm – may be at risk. I’m running to protect our environment, manage growth in a sustainable way, reduce traffic through and from town, manage our finances efficiently and invest in the areas that really matter to us. I want to make sure that Sammamish continues to be a city that our kids can be proud to call home.
