A Personal Note
It was with shock that I read of the death of Peter and Sally Jarvis, from an automobile accident.
The details are in The Seattle Times.
The Jarvises lived a lifetime in Sammamish. Sally was one of the first people I met. We both served on the city’s Planning Advisory Board, which wrote the first Comprehensive Plan after Sammamish incorporated in 1999.
Sally served as co-chair. She was appointed for her real estate and development background. I was appointed for my environmental background and having won three land use appeals against King County development in pre-incorporation Sammamish.
Sally was a fair, level-headed leader of the PAB. One of her sons, Scot, was the first chairman of the Planning Commission, which took the Comp Plan to the next level. I also served with Scot on the PC.
Scot, like his mother, was a level-headed chair of the commission.
I only met Peter one a couple of occasions.
The loss of people you know is always difficult. It is especially so when it is a tragedy. I can’t imagine the loss of both parents in the same event.
Scot has my thoughts.
Memorial services will be held at 3pm Monday, June 24, at Mercer Island Presbyterian Church, 3605 84th Ave. NE, Mercer Island.
Sally was a wonderful , warm, intelligent person. This is such a huge loss for the family and community they loved. My thoughts are with Scot and the rest of his family. May Sally and Peter RIP
May both rest in peace. Driving today is now a high risk.
