Two more development applications for the Town Center are expected to be filed this year, bringing to five private projects plus the Community Center, according to the briefing packet for the Sammamish City Council Retreat. The retreat begins at 5pm Thursday at the Murano Hotel in Tacoma and contiues to noon Saturday.
The Town Center briefing begins at document page 13.
The two anticipated applications are for the:
- Commons at Sammamish. This is adjacent the City Hall to the North, with 214 apartments and 42,000 sf of commercial space; and
- Sammamish Town Center Association, which controls 40 acres east of 228th north and south of SE 4th. The first phase is for 8.26 acres, 243 apartments and 33,000 sf of commercial space.
Reconstruction of SE 4th St. west of 228th is to begin this year, with a July or August target starting date. This will upgrade the road to 218th Ave. from its current sub-standard level to three lanes, roundabouts, sidewalks and bike lanes. Approval of this project will be revisited by the Council after questions arose over the cost and the absence of detail when the line budget item was included in a laundry list of budget items. The project has an initial budget estimate of $16m.
Completion is estimated September 2017.
