The Sammamish City Council will hold its annual retreat Jan. 14-16 at the Murano Hotel in Tacoma.
The agenda is still pending. The plan is to being at 5pm Thursday, with a working dinner, all day Friday and a half day Saturday.
While Tacoma isn’t convenient to Sammamish, the City staff deserves credit for attempting to find a nearby location. Due to the late start of the search–staff waited until after the Nov. 3 election for direction from the Council and Members-elect–the nearby hotels and conference centers were already booked on this short notice.
Tacoma is better than Roslyn, across the Snoqualmie Pass. Previous retreats have been held in recent years at the Suncadia Resort. The driving time is about the same, but Tacoma doesn’t deal with Snoqualmie Pass, which this year has become highly problematic with heavy snow.
The retreat is an open, public meeting. Citizens are invited to attend.
It’s likely next year will have a location closer to Sammamish and easier for citizens to attend.
I would hope, expect, that since this is an annual public meeting that it would be recorded or at least, audio. This very important meeting has our council setting the future for our city . If it is not going to be held in our city, it should be recorded for all to see and hear. So far, as usual, this is not the plan. Very Disappointing
